Sunday, June 2, 2024 (Day 27)

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia / 12:40 p.m. / 15 degrees to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia / 5:39 p.m. / 12 degrees for a total of 25.3 km of driving.

Today was a relaxed day lounging at the hotel, having breakfast at the Denny’s restaurant attached to the hotel as we decided that we would continue to stay at this hotel location while in Halifax-Dartmouth.

We heard from one of Carol-Ann’s previous work colleagues that the Grand Prix Sailboats (Catamaran) event was being held in the the Halifax-Dartmouth harbour this weekend (June 1-2, 2024)  and thought we would check it out.

We headed down early to the harbour staying on the Dartmouth side.  The races were scheduled to start at 4:00 going to 5:30.

We found parking reasonably close and walked around the harbour, checked out the farmer’s market and then found a bench to sit and watch the event.  We enjoyed watching the various boats in the harbour.  There were delays getting the boats in to the water using a crane due to the wind.  It was pretty strong and the skies were overcast.  This was quite a popular event and glad we had the opportunity to be here.

We stuck around for the first race as we watched the catamaran sailboats fly across the water at incredible speeds.  We decided to leave after the first race to beat the crowds and were thankful we did as it started to rain just before we got back to our vehicle.

We stopped to pick up some pre-made salads at Sobey’s (their Cobb salad is tasty) and headed back to the hotel room.

We watched the Edmonton / Dallas NHL hockey game.  Great to see a Canadian team make it to the Stanley Cup Finals.
