Wednesday, May 15, 2024 (Day 9)
St. John’s, Newfoundland
The truck stayed parked today and we stayed with Carol-Ann’s dad’s (Albert) Newfoundland friends for another night.
Delicious breakfast and then we headed out for another tour (overcast but no rain).
We headed to the following areas:
Top Sail beach
-Would be a great spot for a picnic.
Brigus
-The Brigus Tunnel - Large tunnel cut through bedrock near the harbour front to allow for easy offloading of their catch back in the day.
-The Convent (Cafe / B&B) We stopped for tea/coffee/hot chocolate and some baked goods.
-Brigus Mercantile Co. gift shop (located in the former St. Edward’s School) offers gifts, home decor, clothing, souvenirs, sweet shoppe, Christmas items, etc. If you are in the area, it is worth stopping.
Cupid
-Cute little town
We stopped at Marie’s convenience store to pick up some craft beers to take home from various Newfoundland and Labrador breweries.
