Tuesday, May 7, 2024 (Day 1)
Ottawa, Ontario / 4:15 a.m. / 8 degrees to Baie Comeau, Quebec / 5:45 p.m. 11 degrees for a total of 832.4 km of driving. Beautiful day for driving. The only delay was in Trois Rivières, Quebec where traffic was at a standstill. It took us 1.5 hours to go 5 km.
A few highlights:
-Nice drive from Quebec City to St. Anne de Beaupre, Quebec along the St. Lawrence River.
-Some pretty high rolling hills when driving towards Mont Ste. Anne & La Malbaie, Quebec. Then you have the drive down on the other side.
-Baie-saint-Catherine to Tadoussac is a fair size ferry. It is a free 10 minute smooth ride. Our trip had 3 transports and about 30 cars.
-Some beautiful views after Tadoussac. The “Baleine (Whale) Route” would be a beautiful drive when the whales are in season.
-Finished off the day spending the night at a nice hotel and had a delicious supper at Hotel Le Manoir with a river view. Tide was out in the evening (picture) and back in the next morning (picture).
